CHURCH EFFECTIVENESS

While Jesus said he would build his church and the gates of hell wouldn’t prevail against it,our experience in the local church doesn’t seem to reflect the kingdom potential announced by Jesus. The following tools are have been designed and to allow you to Assess the current reality of your church and then build a Ministry Advancement Plan towards health and effectiveness. Many of the power point presentations also provide teaching notes for your use. District Church Effectivness Coaches are ready to assist you in your use of these tools:

Assessment Tools:

    • 2012 Coach Ministry Dialogue – A list of questions church coaches will dialogue with Sr. Pastors during the ministry year.
    • Transformational Tracker – An online diagnostic tool churches complete on an annual basis providing a database that reveals District and National levels of Church Effectiveness.
    • The Car Model – Leaders are exposed to four organizational principles present in the church. Questions are provided to help leaders determine which principle is currently influencing the future direction of their church.
    • The Church Life Cycle – A model identifying the natural stages of a church’s life; from birth to adulthood to aging to death. By applying lessons learned form the Car Model, leaders can readily identify what stage their church is currently at on the Life Cycle, with a basic introduction to “next steps” leaders can consider.
    • Bringing Your Ministry to Life – A leadership exercise that reveals their process/pathway towards leading people to spiritual maturity and church involvement.
    • Letter to Mom – An exercise where church values are affirmed.
    • The Bus and Body Model – The Bus/Body exercises are designed to provide church leaders/members with an understanding of the correlation between what they have to offer those outside of the church and how life is going inside the church.
    • Natural Church Development (NCD) – An assessment tool that measures church health in the areas of 8 quality characteristics.
    • Simple Church Assessment – An online survey that provides levels of effectiveness related to the 4 stages of the Simple Church Model.
    • S.W.O.T. Analysis – Leaders identify and list their church’s current internal Strengths and Weaknesses; and external Opportunities and Threats to future ministry effectiveness.
    • Pathway to Relational Church Health – A pathway that tracks people in the church from their initial contact through “adoption” and involvement in the church (also an advancement tool).
    • Community Needs Assessment – Recently Crosspoint Church in Edmonton engaged in a very thorough Community Needs Assessment to better understand how the Gospel might be more fully expressed in their parish.
